Sony sues actor Kevin Butler

Sony has sued Jerry Lambert best known as the the actor who plays the marketing maestro Kevin Butler amongs Sony fans. Kevin was featured in a game playing a Nintendo Wii similar to the character that he played for Sony.

Sony has filed a lawsuit against Wildcat Creek inc. being Jerry's ownproduction company. Intellectual property and trademark infringement has been mentioned due to Jerry promotion Bridgestone's game.

"The claims are based on violations of the Lanham Act, misappropriation, breach of contract and tortious interference with a contractual relationship.”

"We invested significant resources in bringing the Kevin Butler character to life and he's become an iconic personality directly associated with PlayStation products over the years.

"Use of the Kevin Butler character to sell products other than those from PlayStation misappropriates Sony's intellectual property, creates confusion in the market and causes damage to Sony."

Jerry has beeen cut out of the footage and Sony's attorney has mentioned that they are close to resolving the issue. Kevin Butler was SCEA’s advertising spokesman from 2009 until 2011.

The ad where Lambert was playing Mario Kart on Wii, has been finally been taken away from the Bridgestone YouTube account.
